Addressing a recent accusation I got hit with that was co-signed by a decently well-known author! Not sure if their path to success was way smoother than mine or something, but I've never spoken any lies when it comes to my personal experiences in publishing, and the paths of the majority of authors I know have not been smooth either. I think most people will find both job-hunting and querying agents to be absolutely soul-crushing and not easy at all. It personally took me 7 years to find my first agent, and the book she signed didn't even sell.

I'm sorry if anyone feels discouraged by hearing what I say, but I think it's better to go in grounded in the reality that a business will act like a business than to be disappointed and crushed and left wondering if *you're* just not good enough, which is often not the case. I have so many friends whose amazing, very readable books get rejected left and right not for reasons to do with quality, but marketing. "We don't know how to market this." "We don't know whether to shelf this in YA or Adult." "We already have something too similar." All of these kinds of rejections are not about the writing, yet they are SO common, and they're proof that it's not a meritocracy. Therefore, you really shouldn't tie your self-worth into how many rejections or offers you get. (Like I did at one point. It took me to a dark, DARK place and it's a miracle that I'm still here.)

I do struggle to actively encourage aspiring writers nowadays, but that's because I struggle to convince even myself to keep going. I'm still not technically a full-time author, and I'm glad to have other options, so I'm not left scrambling to push out book after book no matter the quality or the detriment to my health to keep relevant. I'm someone who had an overly rosy view of publishing while trying to break in, and there are many decisions I would not make again if I were to start over. I have no intention of stopping anyone from chasing their dreams (and seriously COULDN'T), but people deserve to know what they're getting into. It's always worth having a backup plan, because sometimes even IF you achieve your dreams, you'll find that it's not what you imagined.

Summary: what will happen when lando is finally in the same room as his crush? Will he play his cards right as a mastermind or will he fumble the deck?

Authors Note: this is my first fic in a month so bear with the shit as I try to relearn lol

Everyone knew who Lando's crush was. The boy couldn’t make it any more obvious. Anywhere he went, all he could do was talk about you. He was always praising you for the work you did and how down to earth you were. Lando would also be caught practically drooling over any picture of you whether it was you on a billboard in the middle of the city or a photo on his feed.

Oscar is pretty sure there’s footage from a Mclaren video shoot where Lando spotted a poster of you on a wall and asked Oscar to take a photo of him next to it. The boy had the cheesiest smile on his face as crinkles appeared near his eyes.

Lando was often teased for being so down bad for you. A lot of the guys in the garage would joke about how he would probably faint if he ever got to meet you, or even be in the same room as you. However, the boy always insisted that he would remain calm and collected if that day ever came, claiming that he would pretend to not know you and play the role of the dark and mysterious guy that would intrigue you to the point where he would be all you thought about.

One day, Zak Brown got the idea to make a bet with Lando. There was an event coming up soon where all the F1 drivers and their teams would be in attendance to raise money for a few charities. Many celebrities were invited to bolster the event, you being one of them.

Zak had bet Lando that if you ended up making an appearance, that Lando would be a fumbling mess and would not be able to get your number. Lando being Lando took on the bet. With a firm handshake and $1,000 on the line, the deal was set.

The day of the event comes up and Lando is absolutely shitting bricks. He’s getting ready in the hotel room and losing his mind about the rumors that you’ll actually be at the event.

“Mate, they’re saying she’s actually coming. Even this fan account said it and whenever they post something, it’s true! Oh my god, Max. I might meet her today!” Lando all but yells as he drops his phone in disbelief.

“Listen, mate. Breathe. You assigned me the role of wingman for tonight so it’ll be okay. Right?” Max states calmly, trying to get his best friend to tone it down for a second.

“Right. How does my hair look? Is it okay? Does it look shit? Fuck, I knew I should’ve had it cut ages ago. What if she thinks I don’t clean up?! What if she thinks I’m a mess?! Fuuuuuck! It’s over. I’ve already fucked it.”

“You haven’t fucked it…yet.”

Lando scoffs and pulls a face at Max’s words.

“I’m kidding you muppet. Your hair is fine-”

“Fine?! Just fine?! This is Y/n we’re talking about. Not just some random person. Y/n deserves the best. I have to be the best.”

“Okay… Your hair is amazing. Literally the best it’s ever looked. She is goin-”

“I don't appreciate your sarcasm…”

“I’m no-” Max tries to argue but quickly gives up. Instead opting to pinch the bridge of his nose and take some breaths himself, “Just put your shoes on. We’re leaving in 5 minutes.” he says as he turns his back to Lando and walks towards the bathroom.

“Wait but-”

“5 minutes!” Max says with his back still towards Lando, raising 5 fingers above his head just to give Lando a visual representation of how long he has.

The boys hadn’t even been at the event for an hour and Lando was already quite tipsy. To calm his nerves, Lando decided to have a drink… or 4… This whole time, Lando stood in a corner with a drink in one hand and his phone in the other, constantly checking his feed to see if you’d arrived yet. As time passed, he began to wonder if you were really gonna show.

Lando was about to give up and leave the event when an echo of screams could be heard from a distance. The boy immediately pulled out his phone and checked social media, refreshing the page over and over again until he saw it. At the top of his feed was a blurry video of you walking through the doors of the building he was currently standing in.

“Max! Max! MAX!” Lando yelled, trying to get his friends' attention.

“What? What? WHAT?!” Max yelled back.

“Y/n just walked into the building!”

“Oh yeah. I know.”

“... You know?”

“Yeah. I was talking to Zak earlier and he said that she was on her way.”

“You knew and you didn’t tell me?!”

Max giggled “Yeah. Wanted to see your reaction when she walked through the doors after you moped around for an hour.”

“I was not moping.” Lando frowned.

“You were and you-” Max’s voice drifted into silence as Lando’s gaze shifted to the main entrance. He watched as you walked through the doors and it was like time stopped. You were enchanting. Lando watched your beauty in real time, breath slowing as he tried to process.

You were wearing a blush pink dress that hugged your figure perfectly, flowing down to your feet with a slit on the side. Your skin glowed in the dim light, sparkles appearing in your eyes as you smiled at everyone around you. It was like you were the only girl in the world, at least that’s how it seemed to Lando. It was like you took all the air in the room and replaced it with a feeling that was so overwhelming yet so gratifying.

Lando was stuck in place as you elegantly wandered through the room, sharing smiles with strangers as Lando wished he was one of them. Just for a moment. He wished that he could be one of those strangers, even if it meant he only got a small moment with you, knowing it may never lead to anything more.

He was only able to escape your enchantment when he watched your silhouette make its way towards him. Lando shook his head and panicked, quickly chugging the rest of his drink and turning to place it on the table behind him.

“Don’t come on too strong.” Max had leaned over and whispered into Lando’s ear as you approached.

In the blink of an eye, you were standing in front of Lando and it was as if he had the air knocked out of him. He couldn’t believe that you were in front of him. That you had walked over to him… on purpose.

You smiled with rosy cheeks as you opened your mouth to speak “Hi, I’m-”

“Come home with me.” Lando had blurted out.

“Sorry?” you asked, confusion spread across your face.

“I’m the man who’s gonna marry you.” Lando gulped, “I’m Lando.”

Your eyes moved to look at Max as you asked “Is he always like this?”

With a tight smile, Max replied “Yes”

“I’m Y/n.”

Lando smiled “Your name is like a melody.”

“Are you a musician or?” you asked. You had known of Lando. People often tagged you in videos or photos of him and your friends loved to send you any video of him where he fawned over you. You weren’t gonna lie, you did think he was cute. To be completely honest, he was the main reason you even came to this event. You always tried to avoid attending events like this to avoid unnecessary headlines of “who was y/n with at this party?!”. But, you made an exception tonight.

“I drive cars… and I like to play video games.”

“Oh a driver and a player. I’ve met a lot of guys like you.” you tease.

“No, wait. I’m not like that.” Lando says, panic lacing his face as he fears he’s already messed up his chance.

Max watches as Lando begins to throw himself in the deep end and decides to butt in for a moment, “He’s not like any man you’ve met.”

“How so?” you question, raising an eyebrow at Lando.

“I’m not perfect by any means. And I can’t promise that, if given the chance, being with me will be easy and happy all the time. I mess up a lot. But I can promise to do everything in my power to make all the time with me worth it. I’ll take any broken pieces and make them whole, well, as whole as they can be. We could be something and make something so beautiful that the world seems in tune.” he smiles before it drops and he panics again, “I’M NOT SAYING ANYTHING LIKE BABIES. I MEAN I WANT THEM ONE DAY BUT NOT SOON. I DON’T WANNA PRESSURE YOU. FUCK! Okay, just- All I’ll say is all the flowers will bloom when you become my wife.”

“Oh! He’s crazy.” you joke and spare a look at Max, “Why would I become his wife?”

“Maybe because he’ll make you feel alive.” Max states matter of factly.

“Alive? That’s worth a lot, ya know. What else ya got?” you excitingly ask Lando.

“Uhm, I won’t make you relate to ‘All Too Well’ by Taylor Swift?”

“That sounds good, Mr. Norris. I’ll be in touch.” you say whilst trying to stifle a laugh, turning your back to the two boys and making your way to mingle with some of your colleagues and friends.

Ginny and Georgia season 3 spoilers

I finished season 3 last night, and wow...Best season so far !!!

Felix Mallard literally ATE this season ! I mean,the way he embodied mental health, depression and addiction was absolutely perfect and heartbreaking. He really did a wonderful job portraying the depth of depression and everything that comes with it. This moment in episode 10 is absolutely heartbreaking !

Max : I felt so bad for Max this season. I wasn't really a big fan of her character last seasons, but I really liked the way they developed her character in season 3. She tried so hard to be there for her friends ( especially for Ginny ) and for her brother and everyone just let her down, saying that she always made everything about her. Yeah, she can be a lot, she can be over dramatic but she really cares. And in the end, she was left all alone. I really think that she may have ADHD or something like that. She suffers from depression too, but she always had to be the happy, joyful girl. So I really hope that next season she will get the love and support that she needs.

Marcus : Always there for everyone, always there to help, to take care of everybody. But he's literally drowning. Seeing him like this was really painful. He always prioritizes everyone else and their feelings above his own and shows up for everyone yet almost everyone failed to recognize how bad he was struggling with his mental health or show up for him. And once again, Felix Mallard did an amazing job portraying all these feelings !

Georgia and Joe finally !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've always been team Joe since day 1 and we finally get to see them together !!! He's the only one who never judged her, the only one she can be her true self with. He's always there when she needs him and the only one she doesn't lie to. She feels safe with him, maybe for the first time in her life. So yeah, they absolutely belong together !!

I'm not surprised that things didn't work out with Paul... His career was his priority. I really think he actually loved Georgia and the kids but it wasn't enough in the end. He left. He left them when they needed him the most. And I get that it was a very difficult situation for him. I get that it wasn't easy. But he bailed on them. He wasn't there for them. The way he reacted when he found out about the fake pregnancy ? This violence ? While he knew what Georgia had been through with Gil ? The fear in her eyes when he punched that wall ? Yeah she shouldn't have lied about her pregnancy, I agree. But as Georgia said to Paul in the last episode : " I didn't awaken anything in you that wasn't already there" or something like that. He always has been this man. So no, I'm really not surprised it didn't work out between them. And to me, it never will.

Ginny : The emotional growth that she's had ! This wasn't an easy journey for her. But she stayed strong. She supported her mother, finally ! And I really liked the way they handle the abortion situation. Really well done. Always loved their bond with Georgia. And really loved their friendship with Abby this season. But a bit disappointed about her speech to Max in episode 10...

Austin : My poor baby boy... Honestly feel so bad for him. I don't know how he's going to handle this next season honestly... This is way too much for anyone to handle, let alone for a child...

Zion : He was never there for Ginny. He was always away, absent. The end of episode 5 literally broke my heart. Maaaan, you can't do that! I'm glad Ginny finally said her truth to her dad. You go girl !!!

Norah : Honestly ? Don't really care. No real personality. But I think next season, we'll get some answers about her health. Maybe endometriosis?

Abby : Loved her storyline! Glad she finally stopped things with Press. She deserved so much better. I like how they actually show how eating disorder can affect people. I think next season we'll see more of it and her journey through it. Loved Marcus and Abby's friendship !

There's so much more to say about this season, but my post is already long enough 😅.

being suguru's boyfriend and all of his friends (shoko and satoru, basically - man's does not really have friends like that) not believing how he could find such a wonderful, caring boyfriend like you.

it kind of pisses him off, actually. because he knows how lucky he is to have you, obviously he knows, he's the one dating you. he's the only one who knows just how fast his heart races whenever he sees you. he's the only one who gets that really warm feeling in his chest when you so much as look in his direction. he's the only one who gets to hear you whisper, "i love you," to him and practically send him spiralling with just those three words alone.

but whenever you walk into the classroom, shoko and satoru both think he's gotten memory loss in his sleep because they're both gushing about, "waahhh, suguru, your boyfriend's a total babe, why'd he settle with you? he could have anyone he wanted!" or, "suguru, you better be treating [name] with the utmost respect, he deserves the best for being such a sweetheart!"

you are the one that always kindly brushes their compliments off, taking a comfortable seat next to suguru, who pulls you closer to him by tugging on the leg of your chair towards his. there's a small frown on his face, but it washes away the moment you rest your hand on top of his.

with that simple touch, he'll tiredly tell the two of them to just shut up before focusing all of his attention on you. and that frowns melts into a lovesick smile as he hangs off of every word that leaves your lips.

however, satoru one day takes the teasing too far. for suguru's taste, at least. you had run off to grab the three of you drinks from the vending machine. unfortunately, the one near the common area was broken. despite satoru having the ability to fix it, he was being a hardass and refusing to.

this made you have to almost walk around the entire campus just to get the drinks for them.

satoru was going on and on about how considerate you were, both as a friend and boyfriend. suguru didn't mind that much. he loved to praise you for your actions no matter how big or small - especially to those around him.

it was his own subtle, greedy way of saying, "look at my boyfriend and all he does for me because he loves me, yeah, i am the luckiest guy in the world~"

obviously, when he does sing your praises they aren't as obvious as that. they're subtle, inconspicuous.

or, another way of phrasing that would be, not as obvious as gojo satoru makes his admiration for you be.

like suguru said, he doesn't mind when others sing your praises. you deserve the recognition for being so kind. but, in his humble opinion, it almost sounded like satoru was just yearning now.

yearning for his boyfriend. seriously, of all people...

it made a tick mark appear on his forehead as he thought about it.

"and, and! did you see the way he was so eager to just go grab them for us? even though he doesn't have to, [name] is always putting others before him. he's really a great guy, i bet he's an amazing boyfriend too, suguru! god, you're one lucky man!"

suguru's eye twitched, "i know, i am lucky, he treats me really well,"

"well, you better treat him well too, or else who knows! he might ditch your sorry ass," it was obviously a joke, with the way satoru's mocking laugh echoed after he said that, it was very obviously a joke.

but suguru was already at his limits in dealing with satoru's bad jokes.

"oh, so you can sweep him off of his feet after he ditches me, right?"

satoru stilled at the comment, looking at suguru as if he were crazy. but before he could shout about how out of pocket suguru was being, he was cut off, "you've been dick riding my boyfriend for the past ten minutes, satoru, is there something you wanna say to me?"

satoru's blue eyes blinked owlishly, "are you seriously saying what i think you're saying? are you a dumbass?"

"i don't know, you tell me. you're the one that was sounding like a desperate school girl trying to get noticed by her crush, not even ten seconds ago,"

now satoru was just offended! god, he can't even sing your praises without a jealous suguru breathing down his neck.

[name] control your man or else i won't know what i do to him for pissing me off, was the only though in satoru's mind.

"don't be such a dick just cause you're jealous, dude," satoru warns, only making suguru's eyes glare at him even more - as if he were insulted.

"i'm not jealous," suguru weakly defended, making satoru only roll his eyes.

when you returned a couple seconds later, satoru took his juice from you, placed some yen to pay you back for it into your now open hand, and walked off.

"huh? i thought satoru was going to wait with us here for shoko?"

"change of plans, he and shoko are gonna meet up elsewhere. they said we could have the time together for some couple business or something," suguru easily lied, not at all feeling bad for doing so either.

with how often shoko and satoru were complimenting you for how selfless you were, they surely wouldn't mind you spending personal time with your own boyfriend, aka him, aka geto suguru.

"oh, if it's alright with them, let's go!" you cheerfully smiled, unscrewing the cap of your juice and linking your arm through suguru's. "what's the plan for today then, babe?"

suguru almost melted at your touch and pet name for him. he gazed down at you lovingly, shrugging his shoulders with a smile on his face, "anywhere you wanna go, prince, i'll just follow along,"

you pout at his lax attitude, but sigh and choose a random arcade to spend your time in. he nods in approval, allowing you to drag him through the streets of tokyo with a smirk on his face.

you were his and he was yours, he thought to himself. he held your hand in his now, walking through the dimly lit arcade with you two closely connected with each other.

he was the one you were spending time with the most, not shoko or satoru. he was the one that got the teddy bear you won for him, not shoko or satoru. and he was definitely the one you were kissing, not shoko or satoru.

they can sing your praises for being a perfect boyfriend and tease and degrade his status as yours as much as they want, but at the end of the day, their words mean nothing as he's the one who's truly winning.

after all, it's his bed you sleep in at night and he's the one who gets to have you be the first thing he sees in the morning.

suguru felt stupid for even being the slighest bit jealous of satoru's words earlier. he doesn't even know why he was jealous. because satoru was so obviously admiring you? because it sounded like satoru was noticing the little things you did just how suguru did?

how could suguru even feel jealous about little shit like that, when you're the one saying the sweetest words about him being your boyfriend.

(don't praise him too much, though, his heart may stop at your endearing words. seriously, his face feels like it'll explode with how heated his cheeks get and how erratic his heart beat can go.)

Hey, so I've been more focused on the nakshatras lately.. and love getting into how sensual, flirtatious, raw and powerful some of the nakshatras could be. Everything goes right before the two of you get there. Thats how Jason knows something is gonna go wrong at this hang out. You told him all week that if he felt like not going, you could cancel. But he didn't want it to seem like he was blowing your friends off. So he trudged through.

He trudged through and is sitting side by side with you in a booth. And three of your friends are crowded into the other side of it. They've had a couple of drinks before you came. You weren't really in the mood to play catch up so you stick to your one while Jason goes dry because he's driving.

They have conversations about the recent news, the latest gossip, and then they ask about your life. Particularly your life with Jason. You start gushing about him, as if he isn't there, and tell them about how you met and how he treats you.

"This guy? This six foot tall, three hundred pounded brick wall?" one of them asks.

You scoff, "How he looks has nothing to do with how he treats me."

"Yeah, but doesn't he-don't you box?" another one of them asks him.

Jason clears his throat and sits up straight. But you notice it. You notice how he is trying to make himself smaller. He did it at the very beginning of your relationship, to make you less scared. You talked to him about it when the two of you got closer, and you haven't seen him do it since. Until now.

"I'm a boxer, yes. But I don't bring any of that home with me." Jason answers.

"Isn't it hard though? When you're angry? I mean who's to say you won't-" the third friend starts.

Hell. This has to stop.

"Enough." you speak.

They all look at you, at a loss for words. While it's true the four of you grew up looking like people who were afraid to tell others no, and looked like doormats, you were far from that person. Those days are over.

"I'm not gonna let you speak to him like that. He has been nothing but kind and open with me, and not that it's any of your business, but he has never laid his hands on me, or raised his voice." you say.

Then you're getting up from the booth, holding your hand out for Jason. He looks between you and your friends and then he's getting up from his seat. He takes your hand in his.

"He's my boyfriend. I want him in my life and I wanna be a part of his. So either you get that or you get lost." You put finally.

You turn around and walk right out the door with Jason. Jason who hasn't said a word yet. Jason who is holding onto your hand in a way that tells you he's not completely paying attention.

When the two of you cross the threshold of the doors, you squeeze his hand.

"Baby?" you ask him.

Jason looks at you then. Like everything is coming back into focus for him. He has a sad smile on his face.

"I'm sorry." He says.

"Don't ever be sorry for being you. If my so called 'friends' couldn't see past what you look like and what you do for a living then they don't need to be my friends." you explain to him.

Jason shakes his head, "You've known them longer than me. It's not fair that-"

"Jason Todd, I am not willing to give you up. For anyone. Ever. You got that?"

Jason lets out a small sigh. "Okay."

You let go of his hand to hold out your arms. He pouts a bit before stepping closer to you and wrapping his arms around you completely. You nuzzle into him more.

"I'll spend the rest of my life proving it to you. I hope you know that." you add on.

"Yeah?" he asks.

"I swear it." you answer.

I've meet a lot of awesome people through Tumblr & Ao3, cosplaying, and various TF2 groups. As of writing this post I've got a solid 260 followers, which is an insane number to me when this blog simply started as a place to organize my creative works 😭

All of the little tags and comments on my stuff have seriously kept my life whimsical (for lack of a better term) and I would like to shout-out some notable people and works that kept me going through 2024!

First up, and probably the biggest one, is the lovely @aussie-bookworm and their fic, Going Through The Motions. These updates seriously made my day, and I couldn't have been happier you accepted my offer to proofread. It's been super fun discussing the differences between our countries, yapping about the Mercs, and different AUs. I hope to read many more of your works in 2025 B)

Next, another fanfic author, is AhChunta! If you like slow burns, mystery, and Speeding Bullet, I would really recommend Stolen Pieces. It's a super cool crime boss AU that I've been enjoying this year. Plus it deserves more attention!

Another awesome artist is @800db-cloud, who is honestly CARRYING the Freak Fortress fandom. I love how silly your depictions of those freaks are 🧡 and also YOUR ARTSTYLE IS SO COOL AND SATISFYING TO LOOK AT ARGHHH.. Golden Cheese’s wings had come in just a few weeks ago, and quite late, according to what she knew of her species. Usually, a Phoenix's wings sprouted during early teenagehood, but hers came when she was already almost 18.

She'd spent hours and hours combing through every inch of them, days watching the pin feathers slowly mature and their keratin sheath flake off so she could preen them to perfection. It had been a painfully long process, there were no other winged people around, let alone phoenixes, so she had to do it all by herself.

But now here she was, gold and turquoise wings shiny and huge and perfect. Except… Golden Cheese didn't know what to do with them. Fly, of course. But no matter how much she tried, she couldn't take flight. The thought of flying was exciting yet so terrifying at the same time, she couldn't even hover a few inches off the ground without her heart leaping to her throat.

It was such a pity too, she had wanted to surprise her best friend, the Herald of Change, by flying into his temple in all her golden, newly winged glory. She could imagine what face he'd make upon seeing her and it made her giddy. Alas, that would have to stay in her imagination.

The Herald was so busy most days, and as they both got older, he became burdened with even more responsibilities, to the point they could barely hang out anymore. But now, Golden Cheese had the perfect excuse to drag him out of that stuffy temple. He could never refuse her when she was insistent.

The boy, now man, really, stared at her wings as she proudly spun around to show them off. His open mouthed, amazed expression inflated her ego like you wouldn't believe “So, will you help me?” she asked

His face fell, and he looked to the side almost in guilt “...Not today, I don't think. But when I can, I will, I promise!”

Golden Cheese frowned “What? No way, come on, come on! Let's do it right now! It won't take more than an hour!” she grasped his hands with her own.

He inevitably relented.

It took much more than an hour. It took days, in fact. But eventually, Golden Cheese managed to flap her wings and stay a few feet off the ground, hands on a death grip around The Herald’s forearms as she gently grasped onto hers.

He could tell that she would not go further than this If It depended on her, so he did something a little foolish. He tightened his grip on her and started to run. As fast as he could.

His friend screamed at him to stop, threatening to kill him, priests be damned. But the wind on his back told him her wings were flapping, and once she stopped screaming and the sound of flapping became steady, he let go.

It took her a couple seconds to muster the courage to let go of him, but she did. And she flew. Higher and higher into the air, to the point she became a tiny speck in the bright blue sky. The Herald of Change watched in wonder as she slowly came down, he thought she was about to land, but was surprised when she started to fly in circles.

Golden Cheese’s wings shone in the Sun like fire, watching her was a spectacle for his eyes only. It was the most beautiful thing he's ever had the honor of witnessing, a moment that would never, ever leave his memory.

High above, her laughter was almost inaudible, but her delight was his delight. His beautiful phoenix, flying free and circling above him. He could never get enough of her.

If, somehow, The Herald of Change became The Great Destroyer, golden bird imagery would be heavily associated with him. In almost every single tapestry or artwork dedicated to him, It would be there, flying above the Destroyer himself.

And Golden Cheese, the goddess of wealth and ruler of the Golden city, would stare at them with confusion, and strange familiarity.

Actually, I didn't want to say anything about this, and to be honest, it annoys me myself, because I hate beef and arguments. I also thought: "Okay, got the money back, so that's the end of it."

But after this person made fun of me and blocked me, I now feel it's necessary to warn others so nobody else has to go through the same experience.

I paid for a commission (almost 70 euros, which is a lot of money).

After that: months of silence. No updates, no sketches, no progress on Trello, even though they claimed to have updated it. But I kept checking and for half a year absolutely nothing changed. It always said I paid, and now and then some other people were added, marked as “awaiting payment.” That's it.

Instead, they posted about being busy with mobile games and kept begging for money in public...

So I dared to ask what's going on and was ignored (person deleted it but I have a screenshot). When I finally got a bit pissed, I sent a DM and asked again what's going on, and said that this takes way too long and if it is not possible to finish it until the end of the month, I want my money back. Because I said that, I was accused of “not respecting their work,” which is pure bullshit. If I didn't respect them, why would I have commissioned them in the first place? And seriously, what work? The one they never did?

That's not only unprofessional but downright disrespectful to paying customers. And yes, I am a customer. We didn't know each other and we weren't friends. And even if we had been friends, I would still be pissed, because it's just not okay to stay silent for half a year without even a simple “sorry, I forgot.” Everyone can forget something, but then be honest!

If you take money for a service, you carry responsibility. Period. But instead of taking responsibility and addressing the issue professionally, this person chose to share a sob story... perhaps assuming that sympathy would make me overlook the fact that this was a paid commission and not a personal favour.

Since I've often seen this tactic with private sellers, I react very strongly to it. People make up all sorts of excuses , like “I couldn't ship it, because my mother died,” instead of just admitting they were too lazy or disorganized to get things done. Sadly, this seems to be common practice and it's incredibly frustrating. I know I'm not the only one who's experienced this kind of behaviour, and I find it disturbing that people would rather spin tragic tales than take responsibility.

And if their story was true, I wonder why they didn't say anything back when it supposedly happened. Especially considering their posts are usually cheerful, funny or horny... nothing ever suggested something was wrong! When something happens in my life, I always say so in a post, even though I don't earn any money with what I do (like my AMVs). I just think people deserve honesty.

And yes, it makes me even more angry, because I am someone who's really been marked by fate all my life and who still gives everything every day despite pain, despite a full-time job, and who has never taken money for creative work (though I'm slowly considering it if people like this can suck money like parasites and not even deliver). So no, I'm not interested in hearing sad stories (especially when there's time for mobile games and other stuff…).

I just think, this person should do this as a hobby, instead of taking money. And I know this isn't normal behaviour for paid artists, because I've (thankfully!) never experienced anything like this before with any paid artist. Even someone I commissioned at Christmas time (which would've been an understandable time to delay) finished it in under a month. She even showed me sketches beforehand and communicated clearly, that she is stressed. She didn't just lead me to a website that never updated for a half year. She even charged less and it looked amazing! That's how it should be.

And if you are really mentally or physically unwell: say it openly! Close commissions finally! Communicate! But don't use it as an excuse to leave paying clients in the dark while publicly begging for more money! And don't make fun of people who – after half a year – finally want to know what's going on!

And to make this clear: I don't want to cancel or witch-hunt anyone. But I also don't want others to experience the same disappointment. That's why I'm posting this. I was fooled by a nice-looking online presence (and because this person seems to get enough love, so I thought they will do their work) and now want to warn others so they don't fall for the same.

So: Person is shrimpkini which offers commissions but doesn't care about actually finishing them. And if you ask about it, you'll get mocked and blocked.

Still: don't go to them and insult them or anything like that! No need to lower yourself to that level! This is just a warning so you don't commission something that will never be finished, because sadly, they have other priorities in life…

With that said: I want to leave it at that. Everything that needed to be said has been said, and I don't want to keep dwelling on it. I've already been upset enough and I don't want to let people like this keep ruining my peace. As I said, I would've preferred not to make this post at all, but if I stayed silent, I'd feel partly responsible if someone else ends up like me in that case.

p.s.: this was hard to write neutral (english is weird xD) and only write in the plural because I know this person does not want to be called she/her and I don't want to be disrespectful. (In German you use for "a person" she/her which makes it even more confusing for me *.*)

p.p.s.: I will save the money for a sotoba I want to buy for Mori's grave I want to visit again in two years, but if someone I trust (maybe you @ochitsubaki ^^) would do this (under 6 months...) I would pay this person. ;)

I tried. I really did.

Recently, I've been receiving a lot of hate and bullying on my slasher stories. Mainly it's been by archiveofourown users using an account with no bookmarks or stories on them (a cowards tactic to avoid backlash or targeting) so they can say whatever mean stuff they want and suffer no consequences. Some times I wonder if it's the same person, but... That's a significant amount of accounts to have just to be mean freely.

I've tried staying positive. I've tried keeping my head up. But my confidence and my motivation is gone. I still feel different and alone. Obviously some people hate me and the way I do things, and yeah, it's gotten to me. Being alone like this, taking the hits, and having no one around who understands how hard all of this weight is to manage has finally broken my spirit.

I turned off comments to my slasher fanfics. I don't want another Transformers incident where I delete all my fanfics due to an emotional breakdown caused by hateful comments. I don't regret making my slasher fanfics. I don't regret forging their personalities, manipulating the dbd universe, traumatizing the reader-inserts or providing emotional support. It really did help me there for a few years. I will always be grateful for the experience I had in this fandom. And I will always be grateful to every single viewer, follower and friend that I have made.

Do I want to finish my slasher stories? Fuck yeah. I finally, finally wrote Danny the way I've always wanted to write him. I feel like I conquered a personal fear, and it was so amazing. I wanted to expand that growth. I wanted you all to see the ending to Reverse The Dancing Knights. I wanted you to know the truth behind My Saddest Journey. I wanted to make you fall in love with Jeffrey more.

I had so many plans, but...

I can't say for sure if I'll update ever again or not. The quality of my slasher fanfiction seems to be plummeting recently. My confidence has just dissipated. If I do update, it'll be completely random and out of order, because I'll be updating whichever-story in a moment of rare passion. Gosh, I want to finish everything, you have no idea.

It was getting to the point where I winced every time I got an email saying someone commented on my stories. What's the point of writing if I'm just going to be full of dread, fear and sadness afterwards? Maybe I'm just losing my touch. Maybe I really am a terrible author. I don't know. But I do know that I don't feel as passionate about my slasher stories as I used to.

I'm sorry that I couldn't do better. I'm sorry that I couldn't be better.

You deserve more than this repetitive, illogical, unnecessary writer.
